Filipino visionary Ninna Fajardo created a portable, weather-adaptable cacao dryer to help local farmers uphold the quality of beans, prevent post-harvest losses, and generate income as a raw material supplier.

Fedrigoni Paper and Prestige Paper Products, producers of premium eco-friendly specialty paper products, in partnership with the Industrial Design Program of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, encourage young Filipino innovators to celebrate ingenuity and creativity in a structural paper packaging competition.

“Santa’s Workshop for Industrial Design Elves” challenged the young innovators from Benilde Industrial Design Program to create large-scale wooden puzzles reminiscent of the Filipino holiday celebration.

Here’s a summary of five thrilling days of workshops, talks by local and international designers, and other fun activities that capped off our year’s celebration of World Industrial Design Day, hosted by the program’s student organization – Benildean Industrial Designers (BIND).

Benilde Industrial Design is the only academic institution member of the World Design Organization in the Philippines.

[ALUMNI IN FOCUS] Drifting through the sky, Chini Lichangco’s “Kaia” is a delicate form of pendant light that offers its own ambience matched with Jasser Aguila’s “Hera” dining chairs are inspired by the beauty and strength of the goddess Hera, creating a sleek profile and sculpted arms. Each piece is handmade to create to a touch of theatrical elegance to any space.
